book & bible restoration
acurio bookbinding arts restores and repairs treasured books, personal Bibles, and heirloom Family Bibles, retaining each book’s authenticity while using archival preservation processes. All restoration work is done by hand without the use of binding machinery. No bonded leather, faux leather, or PU (PolySynthetic) materials are ever used.
The 27-step process results in a restored book that is completely serviceable, including:
page mending ~ spine reconstruction ~ new support materials ~ restoration of the original cover or creation of a new leather cover (or appropriate material) ~ page rebinding ~ foil stamping of the cover and/or spine ~ standard or hand-decorated end papers ~ new ribbon marker(s).

BOOK restoration
BEFORE & AFTER
Fabric covers on books can wear with use. This cookbook cover was torn around the edges and its spine was lost. The original cover image was cleaned and inlaid into a new linen casing.
Page repair/mending is included with book and Bible restorations, using only archival materials in the process.
This fabric cover was well worn and the customer decided to opt for a classic leather cover. The book was restored, and the original cover image was preserved and inlaid into the new leather cover.
Original cover materials are preserved and used in restorations whenever possible.
